Common Burglar Alarm Sensors
When it comes to protecting your property, there are a wide range of different kits, components and accessories available. In this post, we’ll take you through a number of the critical elements of a burglar alarm system to help you decide what’s right for you. A number of these sensors come as standard with a Verisure alarm.
Deterrent Signs
- A clear and obvious signal that your home is protected by an alarm.
- Would-be intruders will be immediately deterred when seeing the signage.

Shock Sensors
- Detects shocks or vibrations that suggest doors or windows are being tampered with in some way.
- The first line of defence. Usually, intruders force entry through doors or windows. These sensors help detect an attempted intrusion immediately.
The Verisure Advantage
Our shock sensors calculate force and repetition with a unique, advanced algorithm that improves detection rate and reduces false alarms.
Video Doorbell
- Detects any motion near the door to ensure you’ll always know when someone is approaching your property.
- Full two-way communication, depending on the model, and live-streaming of the camera to your mobile device.
The Verisure Advantage

- These cameras can often record footage when required to provide important evidence of an intrusion.

Monitoring
While the sensors above provide exceptional protection for your home, none of us can be available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
This is where additional services like monitoring come into their own.
Verisure’s alarm monitoring services provide a human response to alarm alerts in seconds, so if you’re in a meeting or on the school run, you can rest assured a professional is still on hand to monitor your alarm notifications.
However, the key element of the service is that Verisure’s agents can take action! We can dispatch a private security guard to the property and phone the emergency services when appropriate.
Smoke Barrier
The other key accessory that your burglar alarm should include is some way of actively intervening in an intrusion scenario.
Verisure’s patented ZeroVision Smoke Barrier does just that.
Once our professional monitoring team have verified that there is an intrusion taking place on your property, they can activate a dense smoke barrier that will reduce visibility to near zero.
Intruders cannot steal what they cannot see!
